The Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday announced the team agreed to terms with forward Tage Thompson on a seven-year contract extension worth $50 million. He recorded 38 goals and 30 assists for the Sabres during the 2021-22 season.
The 24-year-old forward became the first Buffalo skater since Thomas Vanek in 2006-07 to record 38 or more goals and 30 or more assists in a single season. He tied for eighth in the NHL with eight multigoal games during the season, including his first career NHL hat trick vs. Colorado on Feb. 19. Thompson scored nine goals in a nine-game span from Feb. 13 at Montreal to March 2 at Toronto.
