Kleinhans Music Hall announced the “Art of Jazz” series for the 2022-23 season.

Producer Tony Zambito said, “I am very excited about the upcoming season, where we focus on the art of composing in jazz. We’ll have four thrilling performances that will be unique to the series – including a special command performance of music only heard at Jazz at Lincoln Center honoring Chick Corea. The series will offer new compositions and arrangements from Grammy nominees and winners. Some of the leading artists in jazz will be making their first appearance in Buffalo, such as Marquis Hill. They’re looking forward to bringing the ‘Art of Jazz’ to life for the audience.”

Artists and dates for the series are:

√ Amina Figarova Sextet – Friday, Nov. 11 (8 p.m.)

√ Chick Corea Afro-Caribbean Experience – Sunday, Feb. 5 (3 p.m.)

√ Miguel Zenón Quartet – Sunday, March 12 (3 p.m.)

√ Marquis Hill – Friday, April 14 (8 p.m.)

During the past 20-plus years, “Art of Jazz” has earned a reputation as one of the premier jazz series in North America. Organizers said, “Join us for an exciting season focused on the art of composing in jazz. Some of the best artists, composers and arrangers in jazz will present unique musical projects that will feature Grammy winners and nominees, as well as competition winners in four riveting performances.”

Zambito succeeds Bruce Eaton, who served for 15-plus years as the primary curator and producer.

The Albright-Knox Art Gallery and JazzBuffalo are promotional partners for “Art of Jazz 2022-23.”

Subscriptions to the full concert series are on sale through the Kleinhans Music Hall box office. Subscribers get a 10% discount; BPO subscribers and members of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery receive a 20% discount. Series subscriptions can be purchased here.
