Are you ready for some fitness? Independent Health is kicking off the 11th season of “Fitness in the Parks,” the largest and longest running outdoor fitness program in Western New York, on June 1. Presented in partnership with the YMCA Buffalo Niagara and the Jamestown YMCA, this free outdoor fitness program includes yoga, Pilates, Zumba, kickboxing, cardio dance and several other fitness classes.

A total of 563 classes by certified YMCA instructors will be offered at 25 different parks and other unique locations across Western New York, including the Buffalo Bills AdPro Training Center as well as longtime favorites of the scenic Wilkeson Pointe at Outer Harbor Buffalo overlooking the waterfront; the bustling Delaware Park in the City of Buffalo; and the serenity of Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park.

All classes are free. Advance registration is not required. Just show up at the outdoor class. A complete list of the class descriptions and schedule are available online at www.independenthealth.com/fitpark.

“ ‘Fitness in the Parks’ is a wonderful way to get out there and experience scenic and fun locations that are some of the best that Western New York offers! All ages and skill levels are encouraged to join us to get fit and have some fun,” said Michelle Carbery, senior corporate wellness specialist at Independent Health. “This community-based program is designed to encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyles by offering free fitness classes in unique spaces – providing easy access and opportunities for you to start or continue your health and wellness journey.”

Independent Health and YMCA Buffalo Niagara first partnered 11 years ago to bring “Fitness in the Parks” to WNY starting at six parks with 10 classes.
