Tops Friendly Markets celebrates Supermarket Employee Appreciation Day on Tuesday. The company stated, “This annual event is celebrated on the 22nd of every February to not only highlight the remarkable achievements of our associates, but also the longevity and impact grocery workers make on employment.
“While the job market struggled to regain footing after the pandemic, the supermarket industry had a steady flow of opportunity for individuals of all ages to begin a career in the industry as supermarkets and the supply chain industry remained constant. Those working in the supermarket industry were true heroes during the height of the pandemic and continue to enrich families with the nourishment they need to take care of their families.”
Tops Friendly Markets Executive Vice President of Operations Ron Ferri said, “Day after day, our associates are keeping our communities thriving. They are on the frontlines ensuring that we not only meet but exceed our customer’s needs no matter what challenges arise. We couldn’t be more impressed by how the Tops team rallies when faced with a challenge – be it a winter storm or an international pandemic.”
And as Tops also celebrates its 60th anniversary in the communities it serves in 2022, it said, “We’re proud to honor those who have been with us for decades. In 2022, we will recognize a total of 311 associates reaching 25-, 30-, 35-, 40- and 45-year anniversaries, and 139 retirees. There is nothing that quite says dedication more than a room full of associates who have called Tops their family for over a quarter a century.”
Based in Williamsville, Tops Markets currently operates 150 grocery stores in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont, including five that are run by franchisees. For more information, visit www.topsmarkets.com.
