Arts Services Inc. of Western New York announced applications for its annual “Give for Greatness” granting program are open. The grants support small to mid-sized nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Allegany counties by providing general operating support up to $2,000 to help build organizational capacity. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.

This year, ASI has a total of $15,000 in available funding to be awarded through this program. Eligible organizations must have 501(c)3 or NYS CHAR 500 status (current or pending), and must have cultural activity or programming as their primary purpose or mission. Additionally, organizations must be located in Erie, Niagara, Allegany, Cattaraugus or Chautauqua counties and have a current operating budget of under $300,000, as well as receive less than $30,000 in county funding for programs or operations. Recipients must be willing to recognize “Give for Greatness” and ASI as a funder if funds are received.

The “Give for Greatness” program is funded by money ASI raises throughout the year, and is supported by “Fund for the Arts,” “Lawyers for the Arts,” “Lawyers for the Arts: Classical Edition,” The Marilyn Gohr McTaggart Reveal Fund at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, and The Rupp Family Foundation. Since its inception in 2014, ASI has distributed more than $175,000 in “Give for Greatness” grants to more than 100 regional arts and cultural organizations.
