Eastern Hills Mall launches 'Off-Broadway Market'

Each weekend in March and through Easter, Eastern Hills Mall will offer a holiday shopping experience with established mall retailers, traditional vendors Western New Yorkers have come to rely on for Easter treats, and some exciting new merchants. It’s a shopper’s paradise that mall executives are calling, “The Off-Broadway Farmers & Artisans Market."

Mall General Manager Russ Fulton said the newly created market grew out of COVID-19-related circumstances.

“Due to COVID restrictions, some vendors who traditionally spend the Easter season at The Broadway Market are unable to set up there this year,” Fulton said. “When we heard about the unfortunate circumstances, we decided to reach out to those vendors and offer them space in our mall. Within a week, we had a list of 33 businesses signed up, with more contacting us every day. They are a unique blend of artisans, and food and produce vendors, which led us to title this Easter event ‘The-Off Broadway Farmers and Artisan Market.’ ”

In addition to the array of artisans and food merchants joining with Eastern Hill’s 53 retailers, every weekend of the market there will be entertainment in the mall’s center concourse, provided by Branding Buffalo’s drumming DJ.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. opening day, Saturday March 6, the second annual “Big Truck Event Drive-thru” will take place in the front mall parking lot sponsored by the Clarence Chamber of Commerce. Included will be food trucks offering carnival food fare.

There will also be weekly gift card giveaways from “Off-Broadway Market” vendors on the mall’s Instagram page (https://www.instagram.com/ehmcommons/) and, as Easter draws near, there may even be special appearances by the Easter Bunny himself.

“The Off-Broadway Market” will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, March 5-27 and April 1-3 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend). Mall market hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Vendors will be set up throughout the mall at independent tables, free-standing kiosks, and pop-up shops in vacant store spaces. All mall entrances will be accessible.

To ensure the safety of all during at “Off-Broadway Market,” masks and social distancing will be required. Food will only be available from vendors, with no sit-down eating options.

For more information, or to inquire about becoming a vendor, contact Jacob Majuk at 716-633-1600, ext. 201.
