In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 18, Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum, in partnership with BankOnBuffalo, is hosting a winter clothing drive (new hats, mitten and socks) for the children residing at Gerard Place.

While BankOnBuffalo associates are already collecting these items internally, the official drive will kick off at Explore & More on Jan. 16 and run through the 23. The public is invited to either drop off items in person at the museum or shop our Amazon Wishlist where the items will be mailed directly to Explore & More. The wish list can be accessed either by clicking this link.

“Gerard Place is very grateful to BankOnBuffalo and Explore & More for their very generous drive to help the children and families in our very poor surrounding community. Organizations working together to provide essential clothing at this time of year for those most vulnerable in our community is what is best about Buffalo,” said David Zapfel, CEO/president of Gerard Place.

“In the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. and his vision of building a better community, BankOnBuffalo employees are honoring his legacy and taking the day on – by collecting hats, mittens and socks for those in need,” said Martin T. Griffith, BankOnBuffalo president. “We are pleased to partner with Explore & More to support Gerard Place and its mission to strengthen our community.”

BankOnBuffalo is also the presenting sponsor for Martin Luther King Jr. Day activities – including stories and crafts – at Explore & More. These activities are happening both inside the museum and virtually. Explore & More has heightened safety measures, due to COVID-19, including a limited capacity. Those who are interested in attending the in-person activities at the museum are encouraged to purchase a ticket early.

Explore & More's mission is to provide best-in-class play experiences where all children, families and the community can explore, learn and develop together. Visit exploreandmore.org and connect on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
