Syros Restaurant reopened Friday at 869 Cayuga St., Lewiston. The restaurant had been closed for about a week, upon an employee testing positive for the coronavirus.
Owner and chef Bechara Cobti said the Greek/American eatery was professionally cleaned, and returning employees have tested negative.
In fact, his son, Eli, posted pictures of the deep-clean on Facebook and wrote, “WE HAVE SAFELY RE-OPENED FOR BUSINESS!
“On Sunday night the Syros Family learned that one of our employees had tested positive for COVID-19. We shut down operations and began testing immediately. ALL EMPLOYEES WHO CAME INTO CONTACT WITH SAID PERSON IN THE DAYS LEADING UP TO THE POSITIVE RESULT HAVE RECORDED A NEGATIVE TEST RESULT!
“Mark Cerrone Inc, the same company that sanitized the Buffalo Bills’ stadium, performed a deep clean at the restaurant in Wednesday, November 12. We are continuing to work in continuing to work in conjunction with the Niagara County Health Department to ensure that we are complying with and surpassing all NYS guidelines.”
Bechara Cobti said, “We want to make sure everything is clean and everyone is negative. … We don’t want to take chances.”
He added, “We don’t care if we lose a little bit of business; we want to do it right, because we care about everybody.”
“We can’t wait for (customers) to come in, and we are ready for them!” Cobti said.
