FeedMore WNY was set to hold a supplemental food distribution at Kleinhans Music Hall today to help feed hungry neighbors and meet the increased need for food assistance in the community due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The distribution was to provide individuals with a variety of nutritious food items, set up as a drive-through model, though walkers also would be accommodated. The food was to be pre-bagged or boxed, and volunteers were to be provided gloves, hand sanitizer and access to washrooms.
A press release said, “This supplemental food distribution is one of the many ways FeedMore WNY is working to meet the increased need in the community spurred by the coronavirus outbreak. The nonprofit has made larger quantities of nutritious food available to its partner food pantries and soup kitchens and is making frequent deliveries of product to its agencies. FeedMore WNY also is continuing its regularly scheduled mobile food pantry distributions to deliver fresh, perishable food items such as fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products to community members throughout its four-county service area.
Upcoming Mobile Food Pantry distributions will be held at the following times and locations:
•First Baptist Church of Newfane, 2737 Main St., Saturday, March 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
•Care-N-Share Food Pantry, 3628 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, Saturday, March 28, from noon-2 p.m.
During the coronavirus outbreak, FeedMore WNY has also waived traditional eligibility requirements for its home-delivered meal program and has added nearly new 500 clients to the program since March 18.
