Top charting, RIAA-certified Gold single ‘Where I Belong’ lands on Billboard's Top 10 Songs of the Decade

Grammy-nominated band Building 429 is wrapping up one of its most successful years yet thanks to a big hit radio single, a holiday EP, and the announcement of a new partnership.

Kicking off 2019, Building 429 lead vocalist Jason Roy and the band’s longtime manager, Gabe Vasquez, launched their new record label 3rd Wave Music. Partnering with Fuel Music for global distribution, the band released its first independent single, the powerful anthem “Fear No More.” Receiving tremendous support from stations around the country, “Fear No More” was one of the biggest independent artist singles to ever hit Christian radio with an astounding 35 adds in its debut week. The song continued to impact, climbing to No. 4 on Billboard's national Christian airplay chart and remaining in the Top 5 for nine weeks. Additionally, the band’s multi-top charting and RIAA-certified Gold single “Where I Belong” landed on Billboard’s Top 10 Songs of the Decade.

The band also recorded a Christmas EP, “A Thrill of Hope,” which released in November. The title single, “A Thrill of Hope (O Holy Night/Agnus Dei),” is currently the No. 1 most added at AC Indicator as well as Hot AC, and is No. 4 most added at AC radio.

“It’s always a challenge to record standards like ‘O Holy Night’ Or ‘Agnus Dei,’" Roy said about the recording of the holiday single. "There are many amazing versions that exist, but I had been working on a version of both songs together for years and it was incredibly important that whatever we added to our version of both songs would hopefully be powerful. We finally landed on something that we think is special, and we hope fans of Christmas and worship music alike enjoy this new version of two amazing classics.”

The EP also includes “Birthday of a King,” a song originally recorded by Judy Garland – this is the first time it’s ever been recorded by a CCM artist.

The band received a 2013 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for “We Won’t Be Shaken,” which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Albums chart and launched the title track to No. 1 at radio. Building 429 also received a 2014 and multiple 2012 “Song of the Year” Billboard Music Awards for “We Won’t Be Shaken” and “Where I Belong” respectively, two BMI “Song of the Year” Awards (“Where I Belong” in 2013 and “Glory Defined” in 2005), a 2014 “Group of the Year” KLOVE Fan Award nomination, and a “Best New Artist” GMA Dove Award in 2005.
