Fundraising event to benefit families experiencing homelessness
Family Promise of WNY, a community organization providing temporary shelter and support to families experiencing homelessness in Western New York, will host its fifth annual “Choctoberfest” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at World of Beer, located inside the Walden Galleria in Cheektowaga.
Tickets include a free drink and can be purchased for $25 in advance, or $30 at the event. The evening will feature a celebration of all things chocolate, along with a basket auction, and raffles.
“Each year, ‘Choctoberfest’ is an opportunity for the community to support the important work of Family Promise of WNY,” said Lu Firestone, Family Promise of WNY executive director. “As one of only two family shelters in Erie County dedicated to keeping families together during the crisis homelessness, fundraising events like these are vital to our organization. We are so grateful for all of our community partners who believe in our mission and are looking forward to an amazing evening!”

Founded in 1996, Family Promise of WNY works alongside its partners to keep families experiencing homelessness together, offering emergency housing and compassionate support as they work to find their way back home. The organization is in the midst of a capital project that will double its capacity, providing additional opportunities for families to work toward independence.
