WNY's best wrestlers to compete against young global stars

Empire State Wrestling returns to St. Johnsburg Firehall, 7165 Ward Road, on Saturday, June 29, for “Temperature Rising.” Pre-sale general admission tickets are $15. Tickets increase $5 on the day of the event. Front and second row tickets are sold out. Doors open at 5 p.m. with bell-time at 6 p.m. “Temperature Rising” will air live on Twitch and be recorded for ESW’s streaming service partners.

The following wrestlers are scheduled to appear at “Temperature Rising:”

•Impact Wrestling star Josh Alexander makes his return to ESW against Beyond Wrestling’s Jay Freddie.

•All-Elite Wrestling signee Brian Pillman Jr. will face Kevin Bennett of North Tonawanda.

•Viral internet star Anthony Gaines will face debuting world-renowned independent wrestling star Zachary Wentz.

•“Red Death” Daniel Garcia will wrestle in his first match in ESW since the Buffalo Brothers car accident in January. He is challenging ESW Heavyweight Champion Brandon Thurston for the title.

•Tonawanda native Jerk Cockins will face Buffalo’s Puf.

•Many of ESW’s regular stars will also be in action including former ESW Heavyweight Champions “The Blade” Pepper Parks, Chris Cooper and “Big Time” Bill Collier.

ESW shows are held throughout the calendar year, primarily at the St. Johnsburg Firehall in North Tonawanda, boasting crowds of over 400 fans. Larger “super show” events are held at the Kenan Center in Lockport and the Frontier Firehall in Niagara Falls, drawing crowds up to 1,000. ESW also runs on an annual basis outside the Buffalo metropolitan area such as Salamanca and Albion.

As Western New York’s premier independent professional wrestling promotion, ESW, over the years, has hosted many of pro wrestling’s top up-and-comers and biggest legends. Current World Wrestling Entertainment stars Kevin Owens, Luke Harper, Matt Hardy, Rhyno, Jinder Mahal, Curt Hawkins, Cedric Alexander, Ruby Riott and Tony Nese. Pro wrestling legends Kevin Nash, Brutus Beefcake, Billy Gunn, X-Pac, The Honky Tonk Man, Jim Duggan, Demolition, Raven, The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, Papa Shango, The Godfather and several others also appeared at ESW events.

Founded in 2002, ESW is run by Brett Stymus. Over half of ESW’s performers reside in the Western New York area.
