As both, the Niagara-Wheatfield girls and boys lacrosse teams, came into the Section VI playoffs, both teams were looking to overcome up and down regular seasons with a big run in the postseason.

Unfortunately for both squads, the seasons would come to an end in the Section VI Class B quarterfinals.

The boys were defeated, 12-10, while the girls were defeated, 17-14, by both West Seneca West programs.

For the girls, the loss gives the team a final record of 8-9. For the boys, the team finished 9-8.

The boys lacrosse team graduates eight seniors this year, including Nick Stott, Jordan Smith II, Devin Napoleon, Eli Dowdy, Reilly Krupa, Jaren Dixon, Wile Chapman and Noah Bennett.

For the girls, they’ll say goodbye to 11 seniors – Alonna Swanson, Julia Gerspach, Brier Kilgour, Hailey Spurback, Jessa Hill, Kendra Cheers, Tara Perreault, Selena Justus and Elizabeth Dunning.
