Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center announces major expansion in primary care, women's services

6 physicians recruited by Niagara Falls medical center

Six physicians will soon be joining the medical staff at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, five in primary care and one in obstetrics and gynecology, expanding the availability of care at its six outpatient centers.

John G. Dyster, M.D., will serve as medical director at Memorial’s Lewiston Primary Care Center. Dyster is well-known across Niagara County, having practiced here since 1987 – most recently as director of the osteopathic family medicine residency program at Eastern Niagara Hospital. Early in his career, Dyster served as a hospitalist at Memorial while in private practice at Niagara Family Medicine. He also served as a hospitalist at Mount St. Mary’s, DeGraff Memorial, Millard Fillmore Suburban and St. Helena NAPA hospitals.

A magna cum laude graduate of Niagara University, Dyster obtained his M.D. degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine.

Sandra D. Yale, D.O., F.A.A.P., will join Memorial’s Grand Island Family Practice Center. An experienced family medicine practitioner, she most recently served as medical director of the Residency Continuity Clinic and assistant director of the osteopathic family medicine residency program at Eastern Niagara Hospital Center.

Yale, a Syracuse University cum laude graduate, holds her medical degree from State University at Buffalo. She also holds a Master of Science in Medical Education from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is highly regarded as both a family medicine practitioner and residency program preceptor.

Pranay Chander, D.O., will practice at Memorial’s Summit Health Center (suites 200 and 500) in Wheatfield. Chander earned his bachelor’s degree at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, and his doctorate in osteopathic medicine at Michigan State University. He is completing his residency in family medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Chander, who earned membership in Sigma Sigma Phi, the national osteopathic medicine honor society, is a resident member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and a member of the Canadian Osteopathic Association.

Sevan Evren, D.O., will join Memorial’s Primary Care practice at the Golisano Center on Memorial’s 10th Street campus. Evren holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Toronto and earned his doctorate at the Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is completing his residency in internal medicine at the University at Buffalo.

Evren has co-authored a dozen published research studies and is a former co-president of the Canadian Osteopathic Medical Students Association. He is proficient in three languages: Turkish, Armenian and English.

Adeel Amir, D.O., will join Memorial’s North Tonawanda Primary Care Center. Amir is a graduate of the University of Toronto and earned his doctorate at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is completing his residency in family medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s St. Margaret Hospital, where he has provided care to medically underserved communities and completed clinical rotations in primary care, behavioral health and pediatrics.

While at UPMC, Amir also performed research on diabetes education/glycemic control and on reducing delirium in elderly patients during hospitalization.

Archana Sonig, M.B.B.S., will become the sixth practitioner providing obstetrics and gynecology care at Memorial’s OB/GYN Center. A former resident surgeon in gynecologic oncology at the Kidwal Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bengaluru, India, Sonig is a graduate of the Kasturba Medical College and the Rabindranath Tagore Medical College (both in India), where she was awarded a master’s degree in obstetrics and gynecology. She is currently completing the final year of her OB/GYN residency at the University of Buffalo.

Sonig has previously worked as a clinical researcher and research coordinator at both the University of Buffalo and the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Shreveport.

She will join doctors Renee Baughman, Donna Feldman, Hannah Bailey and Shrutika Vasudeva, Physician Assistant Laura Debacco Malysza and Family Nurse Practitioner Erin DeMarco.

Memorial offers OB/GYN services at both its 10th Street campus and at the Summit Healthplex.

Dyster and Yale will join Memorial on June 24, while Amir, Chander, Evren and Sonig will begin work at Memorial this summer.
