Tour arrives June 11 with Galactic, Fishbone, Miss Velvet & The Blue Wolf

George Clinton’s farewell tour, “One Nation Under A Groove,” will make an Artpark stop on June 11 in the outdoor amphitheater as part of “Tuesdays in the Park presented by M&T Bank.” The bill features George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Galactic, Fishbone, Miss Velvet & The Blue Wolf. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

Recording both as Parliament and Funkadelic, Clinton revolutionized R&B during the ’70s, twisting soul music into funk by adding influences from Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Sly Stone. The Parliament/Funkadelic machine captured more than 40 R&B hit singles (including three No. 1s) and released three Platinum-selling albums.

Since forming in 1994, Galactic’s sound has evolved from organic New Orleans funk to a more modern style, incorporating elements of hip-hop, electronica, fusion and jazz.

Founded in 1979, Fishbone quickly claimed a spot at the table with 1983 fan favorites such as “Party at Ground Zero” and “Ugly. ” In 1988, “Freddie’s Dead” became the band’s first big hit on MTV. The influential band mixes ska, punk, funk, heavy rock and soul.

Miss Velvet & The Blue Wolf takes the listener on a journey back to the days of psychedelic rock and epic rock vocals. The band has accompanied Clinton and P-Funk on tour dates across the U.S. and Europe since 2017.

Tickets for the 6 p.m. show range from $38 for front-of-stage (standing-room-only), reserved and general admission bowl, to $19 for general admission lawn. GA prices increase by $5 the week of the show. Tickets include a facility fee; additional charges apply for online and phone orders. Purchase online at artpark.net or tickets.com; by phone at 1-888-223-6000; or in person at the Artpark box office, 450 S. Fourth St., Lewiston (10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays).

“One Nation Under A Groove” (June 11) joins these previously announced “Tuesdays in the Park” shows: Sammy Hagar’s “Full Circle Jam Tour” with Night Ranger (June 4); The O’Jays with Average White Band (June 18); Burton Cummings with Andre-Philippe Gagnon (July 2); Earth, Wind & Fire (July 16); “ ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic: The Strings Attached Tour” (July 23); Thievery Corporation (Aug. 6); Bad Company (Aug. 20); and Foreigner (Aug. 27).
