The Greater Niagara Federal Credit Union recently provided funding for forensic interview equipment for the Child Advocacy Center of Niagara.

A service of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, the venue partners with law enforcement and child protection workers to respond to reports of child abuse. The purpose of a forensic interview is to obtain information from a child about possible abuse allegations.

A specially trained forensic interview specialist interviews the child in a child-friendly setting at the center while law enforcement and child protection workers observe. As a result, the child does not have to repeat this or her story to each person.

The equipment funded by the Greater Niagara Federal Credit Union supports communication between investigators and the interviewer during the interview process.

“The Greater Niagara Federal Credit Union is a longtime partner of the Child Advocacy Center,” said Ann Marie Tucker, director of the center, which is located at Memorial Medical Center. “Their support assists center staff to utilize recommended practices for child abuse investigations while reducing the trauma for children.”
