Mount St. Mary’s Hospital conducted a special ceremony on Thursday as part of its Black History Month events. The ceremony was held in front of a capacity gathering in the cafeteria.

This year’s honorees included Shirley Evans, nurse attendant; Blasina Mathews, diagnostic imaging attendant; and Shaneka Hilson, director, fifth floor medical-surgical unit.

As part of the ceremony, the Rev. John C. Caldwell, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Niagara Falls, was the guest speaker. Associates Doug Adams and Linda Owens of environmental services, Tim Jones and Mel McNeese of security, Pat Bandum of Clearview, Amanda Lucas of cardiology and Wanda Adams of nutrition services worked with nutrition services to prepare the annual soul food luncheon. A bake sale to benefit the hospital’s mission committee was held the next day and coordinated by Shirley Hood of environmental services.
