Town of Niagara begins year with reorganizational meeting

Last Wednesday, the Town of Niagara Town Board held its reorganizational meeting for 2019. The meeting appoints and reappoints people and firms to certain duties within the town.

Notable appointments included:

•Councilman Charles Teixeira was appointed the deputy supervisor. Teixeira would step in and run the regular Town Board meetings if Supervisor Lee Wallace ever had to miss one.

•Wallace was appointed as liaison to the Highway, and Parks and Recreation departments, as well as to the building inspector. Teixeira was appointed liaison to the Water and Sewer Department. Councilman Marc Carpenter was appointed liaison to the Police Department; Councilman Rich Sirianni was appointed liaison to the fire department; and Councilman Sam Gatto was appointed liaison to the courts.

•Barbara Hathaway will stay on as chairman of the Planning Board. Joining her will be Ed Herman, Michael Murawski, John Polka, Renee Granto and Kim Meisenburg as secretary. For the Zoning Board of Appeals, the 2019 committee will consist of Patrick Barney, chairman; Thomas Cuddahee, Robert McDermott, Jody Wienke, Rich Halleen and Joanna Wallace as secretary.

•Hodgson Ross, as well as Barclay Damon will take care of municipal in-house legal matters.

•Town Hall hours will run from 8-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

•The Niagara Gazette and Niagara Frontier Publications were designated as the official newpapers of the town.

•Town Board meetings will take place once a month on the third Tuesday of each month starting at 6:30 p.m. Planning Board meetings will take place on the first Tuesday of each month, the Zoning Board of Appeals meetings will take place the second Tuesday of each month, the Citizen’s Advisory Board will meet on the third Thursday of the month and the Environmental Commission will meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

•And for those who have a sweet tooth already to start 2019, Halloween trick-or-treat hours are from 4-7 p.m.

•The first Town of Niagara Town Board meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22.
