Tenth Avenue North's single "Control" was named Mediabase's 2018 Christian Song of the Year. The honor is given by Mediabase to the song that has the most spins during the year. This song spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on Mediabase’s Christian AC chart, and six weeks at No. 1 on Mediabase’s Christian audience chart.

In addition to Mediabase, “Control” spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s AC Indicator chart, 10 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s AC monitored chart, and seven weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s national audience chart. This song was the band's third No. 1 radio single and 12th top 10 radio single. The song has more than 63,000 digital track sales along with over 31 million streams resulting in a total of 258,000 in total track consumption. This song has reached a radio audience of 372 million listeners.

“What if I told you God doesn’t need you, he wants you?" asks Mike Donehey of Tenth Avenue North when talking about their No. 1 song "Control." "What if I told you that your loveliness to God doesn’t rise and fall with your usefulness to God? God doesn't need us to be successful; he wants us to be surrendered.”

It was this bold question in the song "Control" that resonated with listeners all throughout 2018. This boldness also is what the band has become known for with its most recent release, “The Things We've Been Afraid To Say” EP, which has been highlighted in this online feature.

Tenth Avenue North has more than 1.6 million album sales and more than 303 million streams. "Control" is from the band's studio album “Followers,” which has sold more than 60,000 albums and has more than 76 million streams. The group is currently working on a new album, slated to release in July.

Tenth Avenue North (Reunion Records) made their national debut in 2008 with their first RIAA Gold certification album “Over and Underneath,” which spawned the hits “Love is Here,” “By Your Side” and “Hold My Heart.” Tenth Avenue North won the Gospel Music Association Dove Award in 2009 for New Artist of the Year, and in 2010 “By Your Side” was named Song of the Year. The band gained further momentum with 2010’s “The Light Meets the Dark,” as well as “The Struggle” in 2012, which continued to populate radio and the church with such songs as “Healing Begins,” “You Are More,” “Losing” and “Worn.”

In November 2014, the band released its fourth studio project, “Cathedrals,” with the first radio single “No Man Is An Island.” “Followers” produced the No. 1 singles "What You Want," "I Have This Hope" and "Control." In 2017, Tenth Avenue North debuted a Christmas project, “Decade The Halls Vol. 1,” which was praised by the New York Times and The Mercury News (San Francisco).
