Aims to get women into leadership positions

A new national organization for women, Lead Up for Women, has been established to serve women who want to attain leadership positions at work, in their life, and in their community. The organization targets women who are climbing the corporate ladder, want to reach a leadership position, or venture out on their own creating or leading a business themselves.

Co-founder of Lead Up for Women, Sabina Ramsey, is the CEO of Insight International LLC, a 100-percent women-owned and -operated strategic branding and marketing agency based in Buffalo.

“I have been an active participant in many organizations for women, but there are few networks with an exclusive focus on leadership,” Ramsey said. “We are attracting larger corporate entities that want to empower their employees to be a part of a trusted, national leadership group of women to build their network, community and support.”

Lead Up for Women aims to not only increase the visibility of its members through publishing platforms such as Lead Up for Women Magazine, and leadupforwomen.com (where women can advertise and develop their own profile), but to also hold a series of national, educational and inspirational events throughout the country – starting with a luncheon in New York City on March 28.

Colleen Biggs, one of the co-founders of the organization, said she believes there are still inequalities in the job market today in regard to leadership positions filled by women.

“We want to act as a catalyst, support network, educator and resource for women who are looking to take the next step, whether that be rising to the upper rungs of the corporate ladder, launching her own business or living her best life,” Biggs said. “Sometimes, it simply takes the inspiration and network of other supportive women to ‘Lead Up.’ ”

Women interested in becoming a Lead Up for Women member can call the office at 602-730-5121 or email [email protected].
