Chef Victor Parra Gonzalez will speak at first event of 2019 breakfast series

CreativeMornings/Buffalo is a volunteer-run, free breakfast speaker series for the creative community. The event takes place the second Friday of every month with speakers sharing their story as it relates to creativity and a global theme. The local chapter is part of the global network founded in New York City in 2008.

This month’s theme, “surreal,” was chosen by CreativeMornings/Brussels, and will be spoken to in Buffalo by chef Victor Parra Gonzalez . The event will run from 8:30-10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, in the Collections Gallery at the Buffalo Central Library, where the project will be in residence all year.

Paula’s Donuts will provide breakfast for these talks yearlong. Registration is required, but free and open at www.creativemornings.com/buf.

Future speakers include:

  • Feb. 8: Katie Krawczyk and Dan Gigante (married entrepreneurs)
  • March 8: “Community Takes the Stage”: three mini-talks by audience members, open application
  • April 12: Inclusive: Andrea Russell (care coordinator)
  • May 10: Preserve: JoAnn Falletta (conductor)
  • Jun 14: Rhianna C. Rogers (cultural advocate)

"We’re stoked about this new year! The speakers roster is strong ... the space is central ... our community is growing and excited," said Kelly Atkinson, founding host of CreativeMornings/Buffalo. "2019 will bring new projects that we’ve really been wanting to start for local creatives. And more doughnuts. 2019 will have plenty of the best of those.”

A press release stated, “CreativeMornings/Buffalo envisions a united Buffalo, in creativity. We seek to spark connections through a celebration of the city’s creative voices and, on the second Friday of every month, host a free breakfast speaker series run entirely by a team of volunteers. Powered by an engine of generosity that began locally in 2016, CreativeMornings/Buffalo is an energizing environment where people share space to find inspiration in a fellow creative’s story. We believe in face-to-face connections, high-fives, and that a scientist at their lab bench is as creative as a painter at their easel. Everyone is creative. Everyone is welcome.”
