Buffalo Broadcasters Association Hall of Famer Joe Chille is returning home.

Townsquare Media announced Chille will be the morning drive host for 96-1-FM “The Breeze” beginning on Jan. 21.

A broadcast veteran of more than 40 years, Chille first arrived at 96.1 in 1978 and spent almost his entire career overseeing the station as it transitioned from “beautiful music” to soft rock in the 1980s. Under Chille’s guidance, WJYE became a powerhouse in the market, and was consistently the top-rated station for adult women in Buffalo.

“A true WNY native, Chille will bring his well-known talents back to 96.1 as a familiar voice for Buffalo listeners. We are excited for him to bring his invaluable experience to the New 96-1 The Breeze,” station management said in a press release.

Chille remarked, “I am so grateful for the welcome I have received from not only management and staff at Townsquare, but from friends, former colleagues and associates, and listeners. I can’t wait to get started!”
