Correctional Officer Craig Klemick recently came to the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center to share his experiences as a correctional officer at Marcy Correctional Facility with security and law enforcement students.
The classes are familiar with Klemick, since he is a regular volunteer at the NCTEC.
"Craig comes in to grade practicals, is a guest speaker, does physical training, etc.," said teacher Amber Croff. "Klemick gave a presentation on his experiences as a correctional officer along with a Q and A session. He also showed students how to complete a pat down frisk that they do at the facility he works at. This presentation opened many students' eyes to the corrections field."
The students recently toured the Niagara County Jail, and Klemick's visit gave them more insight on the job duties and experiences of a correction officer. Student Cody Greenlief said, "Correctional Officer Klemick puts an interesting perceptive on the life of a correctional officer and how prison actually operates."
Students were impressed by the presentation and excited for Klemick to come back to help them with practicals.
