Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center announced Jane Kou, M.D., will join its medical staff as chief of psychiatry effective Nov. 1. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President for Service Line Operations Sanjay Chadha.
"Dr. Kou's broad-based experience in general, inpatient, geriatric and private practice psychiatry make her an ideal choice to provide medical direction to our very busy, multi-disciplinary psychiatric service," Chadha said. "She will be a tremendous addition to our team."
A graduate of the University of Karachi Faculty of Medicine, Kou served her internship and residency at the SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, where she was chief psychiatry resident.
While maintaining a private practice in Syracuse, Kou served as attending psychiatrist at St. Joseph's Hospital, including its mental health clinic and comprehensive psychiatric emergency program. She also worked at Hutching Psychiatric Center and the Benjamin Rush Center. She is currently an attending psychiatrist at University of Waterloo Health Services in Ontario.
Kou has extensive experience as a professor and manager; holds certifications in psychiatry, holistic medicine and medical acupuncture and, in addition to English, speaks Mandarin Chinese, Hindi and Urdu.
