Grammy Award-winning alternative rock pioneers The Smashing Pumpkins dropped "Solara," the first recording in over 18 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin. Recorded in Malibu, California, at Shangri La Studios with producer Rick Rubin and longtime Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder, "Solara" is available now to stream and download on all digital music platforms via Martha's Music under license to Napalm Records.
"Solara" will see its network television debut on June 11, with the band slated to perform on NBC's "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."
This July, The Smashing Pumpkins will embark on the "Shiny And Oh So Bright" North American arena tour. Produced by Live Nation, the tour is the band's first in nearly 20 years to feature founding members Corgan, Chamberlin, and Iha. Schroeder, bassist Jack Bates and keyboardist Katie Cole will also take part, as the band moves to a three-guitar lineup to better emulate the signature tones and textures of their albums.
The "Shiny And Oh So Bright" Tour will kick off in Glendale, Arizona, on July 12, and visit arenas throughout the summer. Indie rock band Metric will support. On Aug. 2, the band will perform a special 30th anniversary show at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. Tickets for the band's upcoming live dates are available at www.smashingpumpkins.com, LiveNation.com and via the Live Nation app.
Formed in Chicago in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins released their heralded debut album, "Gish," in 1991 and found mainstream success with 1993's four-times multi-Platinum "Siamese Dream," and 1995's 10-times multi-Platinum "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness." With nine studio albums and more than 30 million albums sold to date, the Grammy, MTV VMA, and American Music Award-winning band remains one of the most influential in history.
