From anticipated new album; new music video promotes inclusivity within church
Known for being pioneers of modern worship, Irish band Rend Collective released their new single, "Rescuer (Good News)" to fans digitally on Friday, Aug. 25. The first song off their anticipated album, "Rescuer (Good News)" is set to impact radio today.
"There's a lot of bad news out there but, no matter what, we have good news, and that good news has a name: Jesus Christ. Today, there is nothing more powerful we can do in the darkness, in the bleakness, then proclaim the good news, then proclaim the gospel, and that's why we wrote this song," Gareth Gilkeson said. "The good lord came to seek and save, and maybe that's a message you need to hear today? Maybe you need to know that you can be rescued? Maybe you just need to celebrate the fact that you have been rescued? Jesus is our rescuer, and there's good news in him."
Coinciding with their single released last Friday, the group also unveiled a new music video with a sneak peek offered to fans through social media a day before the video's release. Shot in the streets of Ireland, the carefree nature of the video promotes an inclusive spirit.
Notorious for capturing their audience with their unique sound heard in hit songs such as "Build Your Kingdom Here" and "You Will Never Run," the music video for "Rescuer (Good News)" has already gained upward of 150,000 views on YouTube since its release, with early radio adds of the song by WayFM, KLOVE and AIR1.
In light of their new single, the group will headline the "Good News North American Tour Pt. 1" this fall, hitting 26 markets throughout the U.S. and Canada, including Toronto (Oct. 15).
Hailing from a small town off the coast of Northern Ireland, Rend Collective (Gareth Gilkeson, Chris Llewellyn, Ali Gilkeson, Patrick Thompson and Stephen Mitchell) wants to be known as a celebration band, worshiping for God's glory and fame. Since the release of their first album, "Organic Family Hymnal," the group's authentic and energetic style of worship has attracted an international audience, with career sales of more than 300,000 albums. The group saw early success as their first single, "Build Your Kingdom Here," peaked at No. 12 on the national Christian Audience Chart. Their 2014 release The Art of Celebration, charted at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian albums chart within the first week of its release. Known for their electric lively worship, the band has been a part of several major tours with top artists such as Chris Tomlin, MercyMe, Kari Jobe and Lecrae. The group released critically acclaimed "As Family We Go" in 2015, followed by "Campfire Christmas Volume 1," their first Christmas record, and "Campfire II," both in 2016.
