Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo recently announced the expansion of An-Cor Industrial Plastics in North Tonawanda. The company, which specializes in custom fiberglass reinforced plastic industrial equipment, will invest over $439,000 to upgrade its current facilities and expand to retain 45 current jobs, create 23 new jobs and grow the company's overall sales.
"An-Cor's expansion not only further strengthens the manufacturing sector in Western New York, it will create jobs and further boost the region's growing economy," Cuomo said. "Niagara County continues to make strides in improving the economic vitality of its communities and the expansion of this manufacturing facility is one more reason why Western New York is a region on the move."
"Small advanced manufacturing companies like An-Cor are the backbone of Western New York's manufacturing economy," said Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, who made last week's announcement. "By expanding their product lines they are creating new opportunities for jobs and solidifying the future of the facility, which has been in Niagara County for two generations."
An-Cor's 100,000-square-foot facility located at 900 Niagara Falls Blvd., manufactures fiberglass tanks, pipes, scrubbers, ductwork, and stacks to handle corrosive chemicals and fumes. These products are use to improve the infrastructure for the water supply of municipalities across the state and nationally. The expansion project will consist of increasing An-Cor's production line to include dual laminate tanks and pipes. This project will require construction and the purchase of new machinery and equipment. The estimated completion date is April of 2022.
To help An-Cor expand at its North Tonawanda location, Empire State Development has offered $200,000 in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits.
An-Cor President Merrill Arthur said, "We are excited about adding Dual Laminate products to our capabilities. The expansion could potentially double our business and help us to get into the market all around the world."
"The expansion of An-Cor is another example of an advanced manufacturing success story in the Western New York region," said Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Howard Zemsky. "With assistance from ESD, An-Cor will be able to upgrade their facility, develop new products and create over 20 new jobs for the region."
Legislature Chairman Wm. Keith McNall said, "I congratulate An-Cor plastics and its workers on the upcoming expansion at the facility. North Tonawanda looks forward to having more than two dozen additional jobs in the area contributing to the manufacturing sector of our economy."
North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas said, "An-Cor is a unique manufacturing faculty that produces materials that are critical for industries and municipalities locally, nationally, and sometimes internationally. The expansion of An-Cor is a testament to the high quality workers within the plant and throughout Western New York, who have the advanced manufacturing skills necessary to get the job done."
