Robert Pacillo serves as artistic director
The Harmonia Chamber Singers present their annual "Into Light" concert, featuring music from the medieval period through the present, in March. Candlelight and lighting effects will enhance the music of light and life, suffering and hope, time and space, Lent and Easter.
Audiences will hear works including McGlynn's Media vita, Byrd's Civitas sancti tui, Bruckner's Locus iste, Lasso's Surrexit pastor bonus, Esenvalds' Stars, Gorecki's Szeroka Woda (Broad Waters), Koepke's Follow the Drinking Gourd, Gibbs' Great Day and Jasperse's Abide With Me.
Harmonia also will present the world premiere of Leonardo Schiavo's Lullaby. And, with support from the Permanent Chair of Polish Culture at Canisius College, Harmonia will perform works of Polish composers.
"Into Light" will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at St. Peter R.C. Church, 620 Center St, Lewiston; and at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at Assumption Church, 435 Amherst St., Buffalo. There is a $15 donation.
