TCM goes 'From A to Z' for 2017 edition of '31 Days of Oscar'

Monthlong celebration of Oscar-winning and nominated films starts Feb. 1; programming to Feature Network Premiere of 'Dreamgirls'

Turner Classic Movies' annual "31 Days of Oscar" is going alphabetical this year with a monthlong lineup that starts Wednesday, Feb. 1 (6 a.m. ET). In keeping with this year's theme - "31 Days Oscar From A to Z" - TCM will feature an alphabetical showcase of films that have either won or been nominated for an Academy Award, with a new letter featured nearly every day, beginning with John Cromwell's "Abe Lincoln In Illinois" (1940) and ending on March 3 with Costa-Gravas' political thriller "Z" (1969). 

Among the highlights during the month will be the TCM premiere of "Dreamgirls" (2006) on Tuesday, Feb. 7. The film version of the Broadway musical inspired by the Supremes features a star-studded cast headed by Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles, Eddie Murphy and Best Supporting Actress winner Jennifer Hudson.

  • "Annie Hall" (1977)
  • "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961)
  • "Doctor Zhivago" (1965)

  • "Jaws" (1975)
  • "North By Northwest" (1959)
  • "The Philadelphia Story" (1940)
