Ten Lives Club Cat Adoption Group announced its eighth annual chili cook-off will take place from 12:30-3 p.m. this Sunday, Jan. 22, at J's White Elephant, 1404 Abbott Road, Lackawanna.

The contest will feature a variety of chili by local cooks. Meat, vegetarian and vegan chili options will be available, at a variety of spice levels. Attendees will have a chance to taste all available chili options, and vote on their favorite. Ten Lives Club will award prizes to the people's favorite chili cook. Additionally, it will provide free bread and an on-site cash bar.

Admission for the chili cook-off is $8 for adults, and $5 for children ages 10 and under. All proceeds will go to the Ten Lives Club cat shelter in Blasdell.

In addition to good food and camaraderie, the chili cook-off will include a number of contests, including a theme basket raffle, that will provide attendees with the opportunity to give to the cause of cat welfare - and the chance to win big.

There are still a few slots available for cooks interested in winning the chili contest. Those interested in entering may contact the shelter administrator, Allison Kendall, by phone at 716-646-5577, or by email at [email protected].

Further inquiries about both the chili cook-off and Ten Lives Club can be directed to the same phone number and email address. Those who are unable to attend the chili cook-off, but who wish to give to the shelter, can make a donation by mail to P.O. Box 253, North Boston, NY 14110, or donate through a PayPal account by going to the website at www.tenlivesclub.com.
