The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team acquired the rights to forward Jimmy Vesey from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a third-round pick, No. 76 overall, in the 2016 NHL Draft.
Vesey (age 23, 6'2", 201 pounds) recently completed his senior season at Harvard University (NCAA) where he won the 2016 Hobey Baker Award as college hockey's top player. During the 2015-16 campaign, he paced all Crimson skaters and finished third in the ECAC with 46 points (24 goals, 22 assists) in 33 games.
A native of North Reading, Massachusetts, he finished his collegiate career with 144 points (80/64) in 128 games and was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Year after the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. Internationally, Vesey won a gold medal for Team USA at the 2013 World Junior Championship and took home a bronze medal as part of USA's 2015 World Championship squad.
