April 9 at UB Center for the Arts

The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo presents Joe Satriani "Surfing to Shockwave Tour" at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 9. Tickets, $31 to $59, are on sale now. VIP packages are also available.

Satriani's 45-date "Surfing to Shockwave" tour celebrates "30 years of mind-bending guitar daredevilry," a phrase coined in a June 2014 career-defining retrospective feature in Rolling Stone. Satriani will spotlight music from his first solo album, "Not of this Earth," through his latest release, his 15th solo album, 2015's "Shockwave Supernova."

Satriani is the world's most commercially successful solo guitar performer, with six gold and platinum discs to his credit (including one more for his side band, Chickenfoot), and 15 Grammy nominations - not to mention reigning champ of nearly every guitar poll that's ever existed. He has consistently advanced the artistry of the instrument he dedicated himself to on Sept. 18, 1970 (the day his idol, Jimi Hendrix, died).

Satriani's touring band remains Marco Minnemann on drums, Bryan Beller on bass and Mike Keneally on keys and guitar.

Tickets are available at the Center for the Arts box office (10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays) and tickets.com. To charge tickets, call 1-888-223-6000. For more information, call 716-645-2787 or visit www.ubcfa.org or www.satriani.com.
