Buffalo Sabres: Ted Nolan relieved of duties as head coach

Buffalo Sabres General Manger Tim Murray announced Sunday Ted Nolan was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Buffalo Sabres. In addition, Murray announced Danny Flynn was relieved of his duties as an assistant coach and the contracts of Bryan Trottier and Tom Coolen will not be renewed.

At a press conference, Murray said he had no timetable to find a replacement, and that he would evaluate available coaches and coaches who may soon be without a job.

The Sabres finished last in the NHL in each of the past two seasons. Nolan had a record of 23-51-8 since returning to the team in the 2013-14 season.

Since the team began its a full rebuilding effort last season, Murray has traded away star starting players including Ryan Miller, Steve Ott and Tyler Myers.
