The cool sounds of jazz will fill the summer air when the 14th annual Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival returns Aug. 28-29. The region's popular music event draws more than 40,000 people to the Village of Lewiston, filling cafés, pubs, restaurants and shops.
With the announcement, the Jazz Festival board kicks off its planning and coming announcements of presenting sponsors, 2015 headliners and performers, special events and new activities planned for this year's festival.
Jazz Festival Board Chairwoman Carol Calato shared the board's excitement in announcing a new partnership with Artpark & Company in managing the two-day festival.
"The Jazz Festival board works year-round to provide our community with a first-quality festival," she said. "Working in harmony with Artpark to present a fresh new festival of performances along Center Street, and the festival stages, will bring a wealth of event management knowledge to the table, promising to make this year's festival a success once again."
The Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival is one of the community's most celebrated summer events, with a committed league of sponsors working to present an annual celebration of jazz music that brings thousands of visitors to enjoy the charm of the village and all the region offers.
Artpark President George Osborne said, "The Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival has become one of the premiere festivals in Western New York and, as a longtime member of their board of directors, I have been a small part of its growth and success. When the opportunity presented itself for Artpark to play a larger role in its support of the Jazz Festival, the Artpark & Company board of directors agreed that this would be an exciting collaboration and wholeheartedly endorsed the concept. The Artpark board and staff are excited and look forward to the challenge of making the festival even more successful."
