Premium entertainment network EPIX and NBC Sports Network today announced the first three episodes of "EPIX Presents Road to the NHL Winter Classic" series will now be available in a special three-hour block on New Year's Eve on NBCSN - the first time the exclusive series will be carried on the network, which is the home of hockey in the U.S.

Produced by 52-time Emmy Award winner Ross Greenburg, the series provides viewers an intimate look at the Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals in their professional and personal settings, capturing all the action, drama, heartaches and triumphs as they unfold.

The programming block will serve as a lead up to the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic New Year's Day between the Blackhawks and Capitals, which will air live on NBC at 1 p.m. ET. The final installment of the series will premiere exclusively on EPIX Tuesday, Jan. 6 (10 p.m.).

"Our goal has been to expose this compelling content to the broadest audience possible and, by collaborating with NBC Sports for this New Year's Eve marathon, we will expand the audience even wider, reaching out to their viewers with this special programming block as we head into the live game on NBC, final episode on EPIX, Jan. 6, and the premiere of our next series 'EPIX Presents Road to the NHL Stadium Series' Feb. 3," said Ross Bernard, SVP programming, EPIX.

"A New Year's Eve marathon of 'EPIX Presents Road to the NHL Winter Classic' is the perfect way to get hockey fans excited for the outdoor game the next day," said Jon Miller, president, programming, NBC Sports and NBCSN. "EPIX and the NHL have done a great job extending the NHL Winter Classic brand, which has become a New Year's Day tradition."

The series debuted Tuesday, Dec. 16, on EPIX, as well as on NHL.comEPIX.com and a host of other digital platforms and devices. New episodes premiere on EPIX every Tuesday at 10 p.m. through Jan. 6.

In addition to the New Year's Eve showings, the NHL/EPIX collaboration is delivering unprecedented reach to the NHL base of almost 60 million U.S. hockey fans with a unique, digital, all-access free pass to view the entire series.
