Syfy's 'Sharknado' franchise devours 18.2 million viewers

Powered by "Sharknado 2: The Second One," Syfy's "Sharknado Week" leaps 80 percent among Adults 18-49, 74 percent in Adults 25-54 and 73 percent among Total Viewers

Led by "Sharknado 2: The Second One," Syfy's "Sharknado Week" (July 28-Aug. 3) soared 80 percent among Adults 18-49, 74 percent in Adults 25-54 and 73 percent among total viewers (L+SD), compared to summer to date (May 26-July 27).

The reach for the eight "Sharknado" franchise airings ("Sharknado" and "Sharknado 2") hit 18.2 million total viewers, with the reach for the entire week of shark-infested programming cuming at 25.8 million P2+.

Following "Sharknado 2's" record-setting 3.9 million total viewers premiere on Wednesday, July 30, at 9 p.m., the pop culture sensation's repeats devoured 1.8 million victims on July 30 at 11 p.m., 2.3 million on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m., and 1.5 million on Sunday, Aug. 3, at 9 p.m.

Roger Corman's "Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda" - featuring a cameo by Conan O'Brien - premiered Saturday, Aug. 2, at 9 p.m. with 2.0 million total viewers, 760K Adults 18-49 and 831K Adults 25-54.

For the week, Syfy was the No. 3 ranked prime cable entertainment network among Adults 18-49 (665K), No. 4 among Adults 25-54 (739K) and No. 5 among total viewers (1.7 million).

"Sharknado 2" will encore next Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 9 p.m., with "Sharknado" kicking off the night at 7 p.m.

And, yes, "Sharknado 3" will hit land in July 2015.
