The premiere of "Extant" delivered the summer's largest audience for a scripted series premiere and opened as the top new scripted series of the summer in viewers and key demos, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Wednesday, July 9.
At 9 p.m., the series premiere of "Extant" was first in viewers (9.42m), adults 25-54 (2.4/07) and adults 18-49 (1.7/06). "Extant" posted the summer's largest audience for a scripted premiere (just ahead of "Under the Dome's" 9.41m viewers), and the best new summer series premiere audience to date. "Extant" posted the best delivery for a new summer series premiere in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49, and was the night's top broadcast in both viewers and adults 25-54.
