The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo, presents "Guitar Passions featuring Sharon Isbin, Stanley Jordan & Romero Lubambo" Thursday, Jan. 30, at 7:30 p.m.

In this concert featuring elements of classical, Latin, Brazilian and jazz, three-time Grammy Award-winning classical guitarist Isbin teams up with iconic jazz star Jordan, and Brazil's leading guitarist Lubambo.

Acclaimed for her lyricism, technique and versatility, Isbin has been hailed as "the pre-eminent guitarist of our time." In addition to sold-out performances in some of the world's most prestigious venues, she was also the winner of Guitar Player magazine's "Best Classical Guitarist" award.

Guitarist Jordan has consistently displayed a chameleon-like musical persona of openness, imagination, versatility, respect and maverick daring. Through his virtuosic tapping method of guitar playing, Jordan creates bold reinventions of classical masterpieces, pop-rock hits, improvisation and everything in between.

When Lubambo left Rio de Janeiro, he came to the U.S. with a new sound in jazz guitar. Lubambo is an uncommonly gifted soloist who unites the styles and rhythms of his native Brazilian musical heritage with his fluency in the American jazz tradition to form his distinctive hard bop sound.
