The judge's tallies are in, and the overall winner of the 2013 Niagara River Region Scarecrow Display is the "Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter" exhibition in Youngstown. Resident Deborah Fox's block-long display won the "Best in Show" award.
Additional winners in each community include: Historical Association of Lewiston "Mrs. HAL O. Ween"; The Dory in Youngstown with "Jake, The Hapless Fisherman"; the Sanborn Area Historical Society with "The Farmer in the Dell"; and Midnight Run Winery in Ransomville with "Diamond Diva."
The Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce hosts the Scarecrow Display. This year, the chamber also hosted a window display contest to showcase the decorations that are thoughtfully created by retailers. The inaugural winner is Angel to Apple Clothing & Shoe Boutique in the Village of Lewiston.
Winners will receive a cash award from the Chamber of Commerce, and the business winners will receive an advertising certificate from Niagara Frontier Publications.
