Nominee voting opens for 40th annual People's Choice Awards

Voting launches today at www.PeoplesChoice.com

Winners announced live on the People's Choice Awards, Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, on CBS

The People's Choice Awards, the only major awards show where fans determine the nominees and winners across categories of movies, music and television, has announced voting to determine the nominees is now officially open at www.PeoplesChoice.com. Fans can vote to ensure their favorites are nominated across 54 categories, including Favorite Movie Actor, Favorite TV Crime Drama and Favorite Female Artist until Thursday, Oct. 31, at 11:59 p.m. ET

The top five in each category will become the official nominees and will be announced during the annual People's Choice Awards press conference on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. Fans have the option to write in their favorites not included among the provided candidates.

In People's Choice tradition, fans were given the opportunity to choose brand new categories for the 40^th Annual People's Choice Awards. This year, the fans selected the following:

MOVIES:

• Favorite Movie Duo

MUSIC:

• Favorite Alternative Artist
• Favorite Country Music Icon

TV:

• Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Star
• Favorite Streaming Series

The 40^th Annual People's Choice Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 (9 p.m.), on the CBS Television Network.
