The General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant is using electronic billboards throughout Western New York to advertise its 75th anniversary open house scheduled for noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23.
In the third week of August, the ad will be displayed on an electronic billboard in the Town of Niagara, off the I-190 next to the Fashion Outlets of Niagara, for drivers going toward the Grand Island bridge.
Town of Niagara Councilman Marc Carpenter is the GM Tonawanda Engine Plant's suggestion plan administrator and was the photographer for the five photos to be used on the billboards, which feature Plant Manager Steve Finch and UAW 774 Shop Chairman Bob Coleman with various employees and union members. The 2014 Corvette shown in the ad is just one of the vehicles the plant's new engines are going into, Carpenter said.
