What started last year as part of Lewiston-Porter High School Class of 1987's 25th anniversary reunion, "The Spirit of the '80s" concert is back again by popular demand.

On Saturday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 11 p.m., Academy Park will be full of the 1980s spirit, reminiscent of the times of economic prosperity, Ronald Reagan and leg warmers.

Hosted by former CFNY disc jockey Alan Cross, this year's concert promises to be just as fun and entertaining as last year's.

Canadian recording artists The Spoons headlined the event last year and will be featured again this year. The Toronto-based band was a mainstay on CFNY 102.1-FM ("The Spirit of Radio") during the '80s, and recorded hit songs "Arias & Symphonies," "Romantic Traffic," "Tell No Lies" and "Nova Heart."

The Spoons will be joined by Images in Vogue and other special guests.

The concert, presented by the Lew-Port Class of 1988, is sponsored by Lewiston Music, Modern Disposal, Tim Hortons and Water Street Landing. Beer and wine will be available to those over the age of 21.

Tickets are available for $20 at www.brownpapertickets.com, at Water Street Landing, and at Academy Park the day of the event.
