Lewiston Public Library August programming

The Lewiston Public Library, 305 S. Eighth St., in the Village of Lewiston, announces the following programs, events and activities for the month of August.

Special Events

•A "Princess Party" for children ages 3 and up will be held on Friday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. Featured will be the original theatrical production, music, crafts and activities. Boys and girls must register in the Children's Room.

•A book signing event featuring local authors will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. Join local authors Kathy Kifer, "If a Tree Falls - A Love Song Comes True"; Robert Kerins, "Cuckoo," "Positions of Trust" and "Fatal Lesson"; John Bis, "A Deadly Semester" and "Return to Calumet Creek)"; William Rowe, "The Santas of Mill Run - Beyond the Red Suit," "Conversations with Morris," and "Seasons of the Bard"; and Mike Miller, "Acrostic Poems" and some prose, as they celebrate the publication of these local works.

•Summer reading events for children include: "Digging Dinos with the Buffalo Science Museum," Monday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m.; "Dinosaur Dig," Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 10:30 a.m.; "Omnipresent Puppet Theatre," Monday, Aug. 12, at 6 p.m.; "Wondermakers, I Dig Stories," Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 4 p.m.; and "Ron Cain, Dig into Reading Magic," Monday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m.

Clubs and More

•"Genealogy 101: A class on the library's new FamilySearch Center," will be held Monday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. No registration required.

•The Lewiston Book Club will meet Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 1:30 p.m. For further information, contact Anita Mallimo at 716-754-7714.

•The Lewiston Writers' Group will meet on Mondays, Aug. 12 and 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lewiston Library.

•The Dead Beats Society will meet Monday, Aug 12, at 6 p.m.

•Friends of the Library will meet Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 6 p.m.

•Moms Book Chat - the next edition of the book discussion group for moms will be Thursday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. Discussed will be "The Feminine Mystique," by Betty Friedan.

•The Knitting Club meets every Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. No registration is required. Knitters of all skill levels are welcome. For more information, contact Ellen Comerford at 716-754-4144.

Story Times

•Story Time with Miss Ann for ages 1-3 will feature "Roar, Roar Dinosaur," on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m., and "Three Billy Goats Gruff," Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 10:30.

•Story Time with Mrs. Leardini, featuring music, stories, and crafts for all ages, will be held Thursdays, Aug. 1, 8 and 15, at 10:30 a.m.
