EquiStar Therapeutic Riding Center will host its open house "Fun Day" fundraiser on Sunday, July 28, from noon to 5 p.m., for people of all ages with disabilities to saddle up and experience the thrill of horseback riding.

Research has shown that children and adults with conditions such as cerebral palsy, developmental delays, Autistic spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, anxiety or other disorders who participate in therapeutic riding will benefit not only physically, but also emotionally and mentally from the ride. Thus, what better way to experience the benefits that riding with strong community support can offer than through EquiStar's open house "Fun Day," which makes these riding opportunities possible?

Come out and have a day at the ranch, located at 2199 Fuller Road, Burt, and enjoy great food, including pulled pork, baked beans, hot dogs and baked goodies; compete in the pie baking contest or in the basket auction for a fee of $5 per card for participation; and let your children be immersed in all that this event has to offer.

Kids games, pony rides, face painting, hayrides, live music and a petting zoo will also be featured. The prancing ponies in the horse parade kick off the day's festivities at noon, and other attractions such as the trick rider Leah Hunt and her horse, Silver, will showcase the beauty of horseback riding.
