Islander Justin Hoffman and Hospice Buffalo have joined for two Hoffspice fundraisers, one set for Sept. 14 at the Grand Island VFW that will include food and entertainment. The second is the upcoming Hoffspice Golf Classic on Monday, June 17, at the River Oaks Golf Club, 201 Whitehaven Road, beginning at 2 p.m. Admission to the event is $120, with all proceeds to support Hospice Buffalo.
The golf event will include 18 holes of golf with a cart (a four-man scramble format), lunch, dinner, a long drive contest, a closest-to-the-pin contest, a 50/50 split raffle and a Chinese auction.
Hoffman said he is inspired to run the fundraisers to help an organization that has done much for his own family.
"My grandmother, Irene Goodrich, passed away with cancer seven years ago," Hoffman explained. "She was taken care of with Hospice at the house. Having Hospice at the house allowed my mom to keep her job and they provided exceptional service."
"They made her time as peaceful as possible," Hoffman said of Hospice support for his grandmother. "They were definitely a great help with not only my grandmother, but my whole family."
River Oaks is a big Hospice supporter and is "helping out immensely," Hoffman said, in putting on a first-class golfing event.
