The 2013 Great Lakes Seaway Trail Travel Magazine is packed with ideas for exploring the 518-mile National Scenic Byway that hugs the freshwater shoreline of New York and Pennsylvania.

The leisure driving and boating route spans five distinct areas along the coastline: the Erie Bayfront and Presque Isle in Pennsylvania, the Western NY Lake Erie metropolitan hub of Buffalo-Niagara Falls, the expansive Lake Ontario shoreline and its centerpiece at Rochester, the recreation-rich Eastern Lake Ontario waterfront, and the international 1000 Islands-St. Lawrence Seaway.

Feature articles in the free, 64-page, glossy magazine highlight 30 historic lighthouses; War of 1812 battle sites; cultural heritage attractions and quilt shows, classes, and exhibits; events and festivals; and volkswalking, biking, kayaking and 75 geocaching opportunities trailwide.

The 2013 Great Lakes Seaway Trail Travel Magazine includes Niagara County highlights: the historic War of 1812 battles fought at Queenston and Old Fort Niagara, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the war Aug. 31 to Sept. 1 with a living history encampment and night battle; lighthouses at Fort Niagara and Golden Hill State Park; offering overnight stays in the 30 Mile Point Lighthouse Cottage; and Twelve Mile Creek draws for outdoor sporting enthusiasts.

The travel magazine is found at approximately 50 Great Lakes Seaway Trail kiosk units on the byway; at information centers, accommodations and attractions throughout the byway region; and at visitor centers and interstate rest areas in Upstate New York and Pennsylvania.

The magazine is also online at www.seawaytrail.com and can be requested by phone at 315-646-1000, ext. 200.
