New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli released this statement on Thursday:
"New York's state and local governments continue to struggle to provide services in a time of limited resources. We recognize the federal government has its own tough choices to make, but the time for responsible leadership is now.
"Continued uncertainty over sequestration only heightens the threat to health care, education, transportation and other essential services. New York state faces the loss of billions of dollars in federal aid over the next few years if Congress fails to reach an agreement to avoid draconian cuts. New Yorkers, and all Americans, deserve smart decisions, not political gridlock."
