Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Jan. 31, 2013

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between Jan. 22 and 29. During that time period, patrols answered 156 calls.

Tuesday, Jan. 22

•7100 block of Porter Road, fatal accident. A car traveling north on Porter Road left the roadway and struck a parked vehicle in a restaurant lot. Driver, who was pronounced dead at Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center, had a pre-existing medical condition.

•6300 block of Manor Road, EMS. Patrol assisted with an 87-year-old resident who fell. Victim was transported to Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center.

•700 block of A Street, domestic/removal. Patrol interviewed a man who said his girlfriend told him he needed to leave the trailer because her husband was coming home from jail the next day.

Wednesday, Jan. 23

•Interstate 190, animal complaint. Patrol was requested to check for a cat in the median. Patrol located the cat, which looked fine and not hungry any more.

•2500 block of Military Road, larceny. Patrol arrested a 25-year-old 87th Street man for shoplifting a memory card and a juvenile for shoplifting two sets of false eyelashes.

Thursday, Jan. 24

•100 block of Blanchard Drive, 700 block of A Street, 9900 block of Cayuga Drive, 1300 block of Elderberry Place, warrants. Patrols delivered or attempted to deliver a warrant on a 46-year-old female, a 25-year-old male, a 42-year-old female and a 27-year-old female.

•6000 block of Packard Road, alarm. Employees said the alarm was accidental.

Friday, Jan. 25

•6200 block of Kay Ellen Drive, EMS. Patrol assisted Rural Metro Ambulance and Niagara Active Hose in regards to an 80-year-old woman with flu-like symptoms.

•4700 block of Miller Road, domestic. A man reported it was his weekend to have his daughter, but his ex-wife was not answering the door.

Saturday, Jan. 26

•1700 block and 2500 block of Military Road, false alarms. Patrol checked security alarms going off at businesses.

•A 20-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for petit larceny and resisting arrest after he was stopped from shoplifting a pair of shoes valued at $99.99. He had two open beer bottles and one open bottle of wine on his person and said he also had a gun.

•8500 block of Porter Road, vandalism. Complainant reported that sometime overnight someone slashed a tire on his vehicle. Another apartment resident reported two tires slashed.

•Tuscarora Road, aid assist. Patrol assisted Niagara Falls Police and State Police with a hit and runs suspect from Cayuga Village. Suspect appeared highly intoxicated and was combative with officers.

Sunday, Jan. 27

•2000 block of Military Road, vandalism. A Medina man reported he'd left his vehicle in a bar parking lot overnight due to his being intoxicated, and when he returned for his vehicle found that all four ties had been slashed.

•2900 block of Birch Avenue and Steele Circle, false alarms. Patrols responded to residential alarms, both which turned out to be false alarms.

Monday, Jan. 28

•2500 block of Military Road, larceny. Patrols made two arrests in separate shoplifting incidents at a business. In the first incident a 16-year-old employee was arrested for concealing a Nintendo game under his clothing. In the second incident, a 48-year old Niagara Street woman was arrested for concealing clothing, batteries, shampoo and candles on her person and leaving the store.

•3100 block of Laur Road, 4700 block of Fox Avenue and 4600 block of John Street, noise complaints. Patrols investigated calls for sound of shots on Laur and loud music on Fox and John.

Tuesday, Jan. 29

•4200 block of Mohawk Parkway, check situation. Caller reported a male walking down the street wearing a bathrobe and slippers. Patrol spoke to a neighbor who said the man had simply come over to his house to get a cigarette.

•4600 block of Miller Road, assist fire department. Patrol responded with Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Co. for a fire alarm. The alarm was triggered by smoke from cooking in the kitchen. Patrol and the fire department later also responded to Lockport and Miller roads where a malfunctioning transformer resulted in a power outage. National Grid responded to handle that incident.

•2500 block of Military Road, check situation. Patrol checked a report of a man possibly passed out in a booth at a fast food restaurant. The man told patrol he was just tired from working.
