The "Western New York Heroes" flight will take nearly three-dozen local World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday to see the World War II Memorial and other area attractions. The one-day trip will also allow veterans to see Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and more.
A send-off ceremony with remarks from the trip's coordinator, State Sen. George Maziarz, will occur at the Buffalo airport in the early morning prior to departure. Congressman Brian Higgins and the Honor Guard from Sikora Post will also be present to say a few words to send off the trip participants.
