The Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame voted in 11 new inductees, to comprise the Class of 2012, at a recent meeting of their board of directors. Top vote-getters included Richard Pete Taylor, Ron Bator and Peter Marra. Others selected are the Rev. Jerry Bartko, Ronnie Zell, Rich Magliazzo, Bob Wallace, Frank Chirello, Ken Kenny and Jim Zielinski. Bill Bradshaw Sr. will receive The Robert Eagler Memorial Award given each year to a deceased candidate.
These individuals were voted in for their contributions to the community as outstanding athletes and/or coaches, managers, organizers, officials, athletic directors, sponsors and volunteers.
Eligible recipients must be 55 years of age or older to be considered. The organization, originally known as The Old Timers Sports Hall Of Fame, was established in 1968 and 269 members have been inducted.
The induction dinner will be held at The Como Restaurant on Pine Avenue on Saturday, Oct. 27. Tickets are $25, and includes a wine and beer open bar from 6 to 7 p.m., and then again for one hour following the dinner and inductions, which will be at 7 p.m.
